Kit Requirements... |
Below are the kit requirements for impressions in the Compagnie. Please not that these are the minimums for basic kit, and nothing says you can't have more. Also note that a good secondary step would be to make a tunic, hood and hose of wool, in addition to the linen ones. I don't anticipate we'll be doing a lot of winter appearances, but wool is generally better in the rain, and the spring and fall can be quite cool at times.
Construction standards:
- Seams should be of a period construction type.
- All visible stitching (flat felling, topstitching, etc.) shall be done by hand. "Visible" is defined as 'can be seen the looking at the garment by itself'. I don't want to hear "well, it's my underwear, nobody is going to see it…"
- Stitching that is not visible (inner seams) may be done by machine.
- Buttonholes and eyelets should be done by hand.
- Buttons should for the most part be of cloth, wood, bone or cloth covered wood. Metal buttons made in a period manner and style are acceptable, but should be used sparingly.
- Linings , when used, should be of a lesser fabric. Natural, un-dyed linen would be the most common, and in a lighter weave than the shell.
For a gunner impression, one complete kit consists of the following:
- Shirt, white, linen
- Tunic, royal blue, linen
- Hood, black, linen
- Belt, black or brown leather
- Braies, linen
- Chausses, linen
- Garters, linen or leather

- Purse, leather, color optional
- Gloves, leather, black or brown
- Chapel de Fer
- Handgonne, rammer and linstock
- St. Barbara medallion

For a crossbowman impression, one complete kit consists of the following:
- Shirt, white, linen
- Tunic, royal blue, linen
- Hood, black, linen
- Belt, black or brown leather
- Braies, linen
- Chausses, linen
- Garters, linen or leather

- Purse, leather, color optional

- Crossbow and bolts

For a general male impression (camp follower, support person, lackey, minion, etc.), one complete kit consists of the following:
- Shirt, white, linen
- Tunic, color optional, linen
- Hood, black, linen
- Belt, black or brown leather
- Braies, linen
- Chausses, linen
